If you are expecting a review of the multitude of Twitter plugins available you may well be a bit disappointed, on the other hand, if you are looking for The Best Twitter widget for WordPress, you’re very much in luck as this is it, Tweetblender . Its rock solid, won’t slow down your site and matches your styles to display inline with the rest of your site. However, following the recent change to the Twitter API it left many site users with a broken Twitter feed, in order to fix this or getting working first time just follow the following instructions
1. Install and activate the plugin
Only applicable to new users of the plugin. If you have problems with this step, we can help.
2. Go to Appearance—-Widgets drag the widget into the desired widget area
As you can see in the pic there are a few options for you to fill in. Remember that the source is your Twitter handle, in our case @ReallyGreenWP and your url would be http://twitter.com/yourTwitterhandle .
3. Save these settings
Once you have saved these settings, your widget should look something like the pic on the left, unfortunately though you may notice, that although you have saved your widget, you still see no Twitter feed on the front end of your site.
4. In a new tab, log into your Twitter account, then go to Settings—-Tweetblender
If you head to the ‘status’ tab, you should find something very similar to the pic below.
If you then click on ‘Use your Twitter account to login’ link you should find a pop up window open and ask for authorization for the application to use your account, click authorize app
5. Return to Appearance—Widgets and save your settings
Once you have authorised the app to be used with your Twitter account, head to Appearance—Widgets open your tweetblender widget and click save. You should see a yellow, ‘settings saved’ box appear in your widget (very much like the one in the pic) and your work here is done. Navigate to the frontend of your site to see your Twitter widget in all its glory.
